Award for Scientific Recognition

Every two years, the Portuguese Healthy Cities Network bestows an Award for Scientific Recognition, whose main goals are:

  • To appoint the best investigation work within a defined context, contemplating innovative issues within Urban Public Health and promoting a gain of knowledge in that area;
  • To showcase investigation works within Urban Public Health that contribute to create healthier cities, focusing on health, accessibilities and transport, environment and sustainable development, urban planning, social support and welfare, lifestyles and conditions, poverty and social exclusion, and special needs of vulnerable population groups;
  • To promote investigation as a technical support to strategic and political orientation;
  • To create a habit of civic participation in areas which are vital to urban development.
