CoordinationThe leader of the Portuguese Healthy Cities Network is the Chairman of the Board, currently Alfredo Monteiro (Mayor of Seixal). In his opinion, the Portuguese Healthy Cities Network is an added value for the work developed by municipalities for community health and quality of life, since it shapes up in a work philosophy which reveals to be an instrument to ease work in the local communities, when it is explore to the full extent of its potential.
The Technical Coordination of this Association of Municipalities is the responsibility of the sociologist Mirieme Ferreira. To her, the Portuguese Healthy Cities Network develops a strategic intervention methodology, based on the essential principles of the Healthy Cities Project, namely equity, sustainability, intersector cooperation and solidarity.
