PresentationThe Portuguese Healthy Cities Network is an Association of Municipalities whose mission is to support the spreading, implementation and development of the Healthy Cities Project in the municipalities that want to embrace the promotion of health as a top priority for political decision-makers.
Formally established on October 10th 1997, this Association of Municipalities has developed its intervention based on the following guidelines:
- To support and promote the definition of local strategies that support the achievement of health gains;
- To promote and enhance the co-operation and communication among the Municipalities that integrate the Network and the other National Networks participating in the World Health Organization (WHO) Healthy Cities Project;
- To spread the Healthy Cities Project, stimulating and supporting the participation of new Municipalities
